Exterior Granite Pedestal Base

Scope of Work: Furnish and install the granite pedestal base for the new swimmer statue located at the entrance of the Detroit Athletic Club.

Description:
The granite for this project was sourced and fabricated overseas and shipped to Booms Stone Company for installation. Due to the overseas fabrication, Booms Stone was heavily involved with the design and engineering of the concrete substrate in order to ensure that all tolerances were being held for the final design. 1-1/4” thick granite pavers were installed over a 2” mud bed for the top and sides of the statue base, with the front radius pieces being 9” thick dimensional granite pieces that were mechanically fastened to the concrete substrate. The cut to size statue base was dry laid before shipping and photographs were sent to Booms Stone for review.
