Job Description

Booms Stone Company is an award-winning, leading contractor in the commercial granite, marble, and tile industry. We are currently looking to fill an immediate need within our organization as a Senior Estimator at our Redford, MI office.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing bid documents, plans, specifications, work categories, etc. to compile a complete project scope for commercial projects.
  • Review addenda drawings, bulletins, etc. as necessary to complete required bid proposals.
  • Receive estimating requests from our 30+ years of relationships as well as looking for new opportunities to bid.
  • Ability to review, meet with, and discuss bidding opportunities with architects, owners, GC’s, CM’s, Developers, etc.
  • Compile complete estimates for our work category including material, fabrication, materials, and labor.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, post-bid meetings and speak productively and knowledgably about our work and the process.
  • Work with the Project Management team after project award to hand off a complete estimating package for a successful and smooth transition in project management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with owners, architects, GC’s, suppliers (domestic and international).

Experience

  • 5+ years in commercial estimating, preferably in a related trade.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of construction plans and specifications to compile complete estimates.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to work in a team environment during bidding phase and after turnover to Project Management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Suite products.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on several bid opportunities at one time.
