Description: On a rural site in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States stands a beautiful private family chapel inspired by the Porziuncola of St. Francis near Assisi, Italy.   The 702 square foot space is breathtaking in design, with each material selected to convey a sense of permanence. A project of this scope starts with a vision by the client, then an excellent architect and general contractor, along with various stone suppliers and installers. The common thread among all involved is a great happiness to have been able to be a part of the work. No detail was left out from the design of the chapel to the stone selection and installation. The finished product is a family chapel that is both traditional in design and exceptional in its beauty. Booms Stone was involved in the installation of the interior flooring, wall base, and liturgical furnishings. We ground and polished all of the floors after installation to provide a perfect finished product, completely flat and level, no lifts at all. The flooring was installed over a hydronic heated flooring system which consists of rubber pipes under the floor where hot water is run to heat the floor. This is especially a nice touch as granite and marble would be very cool to the touch. See the full article in Building Stone Magazine Fall 2017.
