14 Stations of the Cross

Location: Manresa Jesuit Retreat House – Bloomfield Hills, MI

Architect: Kenneth Weikal

Owner: Manresa Jesuit Retreat House

Scope of Work: Removal of old Stations of the Cross Monuments. Install newly designed Stations of the Cross using granite.

Materials:

  • Dark Green Granite – 308 Cubic Feet

Description:

The existing 14 Stations of the Cross were embedded into a structure made of lava rock. Our scope of work required us to carefully remove the lava rock that had surrounded the engravings for the previous 85 years. These engravings, and some of the lava rock, were reused for the new Stations. Our granite monument Stations were erected in the same locations as the previous Stations for symbolic purposes.

Booms Stone Company was also responsible for engraving the Biblical verses located on each Station. The Stations had numerous radial pieces and cubic pieces that required the stone to be fabricated to minimal tolerances for the necessary installation. These liturgical stone monuments were installed along an architecturally landscaped pathway.

Project Comletion:  August 2012 – 2 Weeks
